2023 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Analysis
   SB 44 revises the licensing requirements and scope of practice for naturopaths. It modernizes standards to allow greater
   ability to practice if the licensee has attained relevant education and training and establishes a naturopathy advisory
   board.
   If this bill passes the division will require one long term non-permanent (LTNP) Administrative Assistant 1 to handle
   fingerprint cards, and two short term nonpermanent (STNP) Occupational Licensing Examiners (OLE) to re-examine all
   existing licensee credentials.
   If the bill passes the following expenses will be incurred:
   Personal Services:                 $102.2 in FY24 for one long-term non-permanent Administrative Assistant 1 (R12) and
                                      two long-term non-permanent Occupational Licensing Examiners (R14)
   Services:                          $75.0 in FY24 for core services charges
                                      $2.5 in FY24 only for legal costs to amend regulations, printing, and postage
   Commodities:                       $30.0 in FY24 only for one-time set up costs for each position.
   Professional licensing programs within the Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing are funded by
   Receipt Supported Services (fund source 1156 Rcpt Svcs (DGF)). Licensing fees for each occupation are set per AS
   08.01.065. The total amount of revenue collected approximately equals each occupation’s actual regulatory costs.
