Establishing a House Special Committee on Arctic Policy, Economic Development, and
Tourism.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES:
WHEREAS the strategic location of the state places the state on the forefront of
Arctic policy; and
WHEREAS economic development is of vital importance to the economy of the state;
and
WHEREAS tourism is of increasing importance to the economy of the state; and
WHEREAS the legislature should remain well informed about the business climate of
the state; and
WHEREAS the state must promote business opportunities in the state;
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives that a House Special Committee
on Arctic Policy, Economic Development, and Tourism is established to study tourism, Arctic
policy, and opportunities for future economic development of the state's resources; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED that the Speaker of the House of Representatives shall

determine the number of representatives to be members of the committee and shall appoint
the members and designate a member or members to chair the committee; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED that the House Special Committee on Arctic Policy,
Economic Development, and Tourism may meet during and between sessions of the Thirty-
Third Alaska State Legislature and is terminated on the convening of the First Regular
Session of the Thirty-Fourth Alaska State Legislature.
