A RESOLUTION
1 Proclaiming Alaska Aerospace Day at the state capitol.
2 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:
3 WHEREAS the Aerospace States Association is a nonpartisan organization of
4 lieutenant governors, governor-appointed delegates, and associate members from aerospace
5 organizations and academia, representing states' interests in federal aerospace and aviation
6 policy development; the association advocates on behalf of all 50 states for research and
7 design funding, workforce training, economic development in aerospace and aviation,
8 excellence in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education, and keeping
9 states competitive in a global marketplace; and
10 WHEREAS the Aerospace States Association brings together aviation and space
11 interests across each state to educate state legislators on issues specific to their state and
12 provide networking opportunities to grow jobs and expand economic development; as leaders
13 in state governments, the association not only affects policy at the state level, but also at the
14 federal level, by informing congressional delegations on aerospace priorities; and
15 WHEREAS the Aerospace States Association is committed to enacting state-based
16 initiatives to strengthen the nation's leadership in aviation and aerospace, supporting the

1 aerospace and aviation industries in all 50 states to strengthen state economies, inspiring a
2 younger generation to innovate, explore, and build, educating young Americans to lead the
3 world in science, technology, math, and engineering, and linking the global community in
4 peace and commerce via air travel; and
5 WHEREAS the Alaska chapter of the Aerospace States Association serves as a key
6 resource for state policymakers and a repository of information for the state's aerospace
7 community and connection to state government and the national association; the Alaska
8 chapter also provides networking opportunities for companies and economic development
9 offices; and
10 WHEREAS, by proclaiming Alaska Aerospace Day at the state capitol, the legislature
11 intends
12 (1) for the state to advance its aerospace community and facilitate statewide
13 economic development; and
14 (2) to invite the Alaska chapter of the Aerospace States Association to host at
15 least one aerospace education event for the legislature in March 2022, with the objective of
16 educating legislators on the needs and opportunities of the aviation and aerospace community
17 in the state;
18 BE IT RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature proclaims Alaska Aerospace
19 Day be held at the state capitol in March 2022 on a date selected by the lieutenant governor;
20 and be it
21 FURTHER RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature encourages that Alaska
22 Aerospace Day be observed at the state capitol through industry networking, policy
23 development, educational discussions, and focused events involving state elected and other
24 government officials.
