FOR AN ACT ENTITLED
1 "An Act relating to open enrollment in public schools."
2 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:
3 * Section 1. AS 14.03.080 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:
4 (g) A school district shall allow a child of school age to attend any public
5 school that offers the child's grade level and that is in the school district in which the
6 child is a resident subject to the provisions of AS 14.14.110 and 14.14.120. In this
7 subsection,
8 (1) "public school" means a school or program operated by publicly
9 elected or appointed school officials in which the program and activities are under the
10 control of those officials and that is supported by public funds;
11 (2) "school district" means a borough school district, a city school
12 district, or a regional educational attendance area.
