FISCAL NOTE ANALYSIS
STATE OF ALASKA BILL NO. LL 0503
2022 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Analysis
This bill exempts the requirement for microreactors to only be situated on legislatively designated lands and from
requiring state departments and agencies to conduct studies concerning changes in laws and regulation.
AS 18.45.025 (c) already directs the Department to develop regulations governing the issuance of permits for
microreactors. There are currently no microreactors in Alaska and it is expected to take five to seven years before they are
in the state. The Department will draft regulations within this timeframe and anticipates being able to absorb that
increase in workload within existing staffing levels.
