2022 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Analysis
   HB 99 modernizes the statutory language for physical therapy and occupational therapy. It replaces the term "physical
   therapy assistant" with the national standard "physical therapist assistant"; updates the education requirements for the
   affected professions; and allows foreigntrained applicants to forego the "test of English as a foreign language" (TOEFL) if
   the applicant's program was taught in English. Additionally, HB 99 institutes minor program changes including revisions to
   the membership of the board and an added violation for failure to comply with the chapter, a regulation under the
   chapter, or an order of the Board of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy.
   If the bill passes the following expenses will be incurred:
   Services: $2.3 in FY2023 (printing, postage, and legal costs for regulations project to conform with statutory changes)
   Professional licensing programs within the Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing are primarily
   funded by Receipt Supported Services, fund source 1156 Rcpt Svcs (DGF). Licensing fees for each occupation are set per AS
   08.01.065 so the total amount of revenue collected approximately equals the occupations actual regulatory costs.
