2022 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Analysis
Districts will be required to report the civics curriculum and courses offered to the department. Districts will report any
changes to the curriculum or courses when any changes are made.
This bill adds a reporting requirement for the State Board of Education and Early Development (board). The board will
include in their annual report to the legislature a description of the civics education curriculum in the state, civics courses
offered in each district.
This Act will take effect July 1, 2023 (FY2024).
The revision and adoption of social studies standards is currently underway at the Department of Education and Early
Development (DEED). This work specifically includes civics standards for K12.
A onetime fee of $6.0 will be needed for the Department of Law to work on regulation changes.
