FISCAL NOTE ANALYSIS
STATE OF ALASKA BILL NO. SB 38
2021 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Analysis
SB 38 amends the licensing requirements and scope of practice for naturopaths. It adds continuing education
requirements for licensure renewal and allows naturopaths to prescribe or recommend medications, except for controlled
substances or chemotherapy.
The Division of Corporations, Business, and Professional Licensing (CBPL) anticipates the following fiscal impact as a result
of this legislation:
Services: $4.2 (legal costs to amend regulations, printing, and postage in FY2022)
Professional licensing programs within CBPL are funded by receipt supported services, fund source 1156 Rcpt Svcs (DGF).
Licensing fees for each program are set per AS 08.01.065 so the revenue collected approximately equals the occupations
actual regulatory costs.
