A BILL
FOR AN ACT ENTITLED
1 "An Act relating to special motor vehicle registration plates honoring Alaska Native
2 heritages."
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:
4 * Section 1. AS 28.10.181 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:
5 (ll) Special request plates honoring Alaska Native heritages. Upon application
6 by the owner of a motor vehicle, the department may issue registration plates honoring
7 Alaska Native heritages. The commissioner shall determine the design and color of the
8 plates. The department may disapprove the issuance of registration plates under this
9 subsection when the requested plates are a duplicate of an existing registration.
10 * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to
11 read:
12 CONSULTATION WITH THE HOUSE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON TRIBAL
13 AFFAIRS. The commissioner of administration shall, before the First Regular Session of the
14 Thirty-Second Alaska State Legislature convenes and before determining the design of the

2 AS 28.10.181(ll), enacted by sec. 1 of this Act, consult with the House Special Committee on
