FISCAL NOTE ANALYSIS
STATE OF ALASKA BILL NO. HB255
2020 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Analysis
This bill ensures that the department requests, accepts and attempts to renew a waiver of the able bodied adults without
dependents (ABAWDs) work requirements and time limits for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to
the maximum extent allowed under 7 U.S.C. 2015(o)(4). It ensures that the state cannot establish more stringent
requirements.
This bill is duplicative of federal rules and would require the state to change statutes in the event the rules change again.
There is no fiscal impact to the department.
