FISCAL NOTE ANALYSIS
STATE OF ALASKA BILL NO. SB 182
2020 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Analysis
This bill raises the minimum age requirement for purchase, sale, exchange, or possession of tobacco products and
electronic smoking products from the previous 19 years of age to 21 years of age. Possession of tobacco products by a
person under the age of 21 and sale of tobacco products to a person under the age of 21 are violations. As such, the
Criminal Division rarely gets involved in these cases.
The Department of Law does not anticipate a fiscal impact from this legislation.
