FISCAL NOTE ANALYSIS
STATE OF ALASKA BILL NO. CSHB 235 (FIN)
2020 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Analysis
This bill extends the length of time to disperse Technical and Vocational Education Program funds appropriated for
distribution to various institutions for adult and higher education from June 30, 2020 to June 30, 2021.
The Department of Education and Early Development distributes grant funding to the Galena City School District for the
Galena Interior Learning Academy. The Governor's FY2021 request included an appropriation of $499,500 based on the
current statutory allocation of four percent. The amount of funding available for distribution increased based on updated
projections provided by the Department of Labor and Workforce Development in February 2020. The Governor's FY2021
amended request includes an appropriation of $553,400.
This bill contains a retroactive clause if the Act takes effect after June 30, 2020. This Act takes effect immediately.
