FOR AN ACT ENTITLED
1 "An Act relating to employment of legislative employees."
2 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:
3 * Section 1. AS 24.10.060(a) is repealed and reenacted to read:
4 (a) During each session, the rules committee of each house is responsible for
5 approving the hiring of legislative employees for standing, special, and joint
6 committees and caucuses and any legislative employee assigned to an individual
7 member beyond those authorized under (g) of this section. During the interim, any
8 legislative employee beyond those authorized under (g) of this section may be hired
9 only with the approval of the president of the senate or the speaker of the house of
10 representatives, as appropriate.
11 * Sec. 2. AS 24.10.060 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:
12 (g) Each member of the legislature may hire, at a rate not to exceed a Range
13 17 on the salary schedule set out in AS 39.27.011(a),
14 (1) one permanent legislative employee; and
15 (2) one seasonal legislative employee who is hired for the duration of
