2019 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Analysis
The Senate Joint Resolution proposes amendments to Article IX section12 of the Alaska Constitution. The resolution would
require the governor to submit a separate appropriations bill for the funding of public K12 schools. The resolution adds a
subsection to Article IX, section 12, which would require the legislature to pass and submit the K12 public education
appropriation bill to the governor by the 45th day of the regular legislative session. The proposed amendments to Article
IX, section 12, would be placed before the voters of the state at the next general election in conformity with the Alaska
Constitution.
There is no fiscal impact to the Department of Education & Early Development under this resolution.
