FISCAL NOTE ANALYSIS
STATE OF ALASKA BILL NO. SB 192
2018 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Analysis
This bill provides an optout provision that ensures confidentiality of voters' physical and mailing addresses and increases
the fee charged by the Division of Elections for the voter registration list and the list of individuals who voted in an
election.
This change has no impact on the financial costs associated with the division's conduct of state and federal elections. Nor
will any additional staff be required to implement the proposed law. The cost of updating the Voter Registration and
Election Management System Database to allow for voter files to be marked confidential and related reporting would be
absorbed into the operating budget for the Division of Elections.
