This bill amends existing legislation related to the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) by including veterinary medicine in the educational loan repayment program for students in various health care fields. Specifically, it requires veterinary students who receive loan repayment assistance to practice in Wyoming for a specified period. Additionally, the bill allows these students to complete additional training before they are obligated to repay their educational costs. The amendments also clarify that repayment terms will begin after graduation, residency, or completion of additional training, whichever occurs later, but no later than eight years after entering the agreement.

Furthermore, the bill repeals a provision that previously exempted veterinary medicine from the repayment program, thereby integrating it into the broader framework for health care professionals. The new provisions will apply to veterinary students accepted into the WICHE program on or after July 1, 2027, with the act itself taking effect on that same date.
