This bill amends the powers and duties of the director of the Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources regarding the Wyoming State Museum. It allows the director to establish and collect fees for nonresident admission, participation in museum-related events, and other museum services. The fees collected will be deposited into a newly renamed Museum Enterprise Fund, which was previously known as the Department of Commerce Enterprise Fund. This fund will continue to exist and can only be expended upon legislative appropriation.
Additionally, the bill includes a deletion of the reference to the Department of Commerce and replaces it with the Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources. The effective date for this act is set for July 1, 2027. The committee is also encouraged to consider setting a maximum dollar limit on the fees that the state museum may charge non-resident visitors.
