This bill modifies the calculations for routine and major maintenance funding for K-12 public school districts in Wyoming. It specifically excludes the square footage generated by full-time virtual education students from the calculations of educational square footage used to determine maintenance funding. The bill amends existing legal language to adjust the allowable educational square footage for maintenance and operations, increasing the maximum allowable capacity from one hundred fifteen percent (115%) to one hundred thirty-five percent (135%) of the standard space level.

Additionally, the bill appropriates funds to support these changes, allocating $15,970,000 for major maintenance payments and $4,750,000 for routine maintenance payments to school districts, both for the period from July 1, 2027, to June 30, 2028. The amendments will apply to maintenance calculations starting in the 2027-2028 school year and will remain in effect for subsequent years. The act is effective immediately upon completion of the necessary legislative processes.
