The proposed bill establishes new regulations for direct current (DC) fast charging stations in Wyoming, requiring operators to display labels that identify the primary energy resource categories used to supply electricity to the stations. Specifically, operators receiving electricity from a public utility must show a label indicating the single largest energy resource category from the previous calendar year. If the station generates on-site electricity, the label must reflect whether the on-site energy or the public utility's energy is predominant. If neither constitutes at least 50% of the electricity supplied, the label must include the two largest energy resource categories.
Additionally, the bill outlines the responsibilities of public utilities to provide operators with the necessary information for labeling and mandates that operators update their labels annually by March 31. Violations of these labeling requirements are classified as misdemeanors, with fines up to $750. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
