This bill proposes the repeal of the homeowner tax exemption in Wyoming if a voter-approved initiative to implement a homeowner's property tax exemption is enacted into law. Specifically, it amends W.S. 39-11-105(a)(xlvi) by adding a new subparagraph (D), which states that the homeowner tax exemption will be repealed on the date the secretary of state certifies that voters have approved the initiative.
Furthermore, if the initiative is approved and becomes effective for the tax year beginning January 1, 2027, the existing homeowner tax exemption will not apply for that tax year. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
