This bill amends the existing law regarding interference with a peace officer by introducing an additional felony offense. Specifically, it stipulates that a person who intentionally and knowingly causes or attempts to cause bodily injury to a peace officer while the officer is engaged in the lawful performance of their official duties will be guilty of a felony. The penalty for this offense is imprisonment for up to ten years.
