This bill mandates the Department of Environmental Quality to conduct a comprehensive study on public wastewater and stormwater infrastructure in Wyoming, in collaboration with the Office of State Lands and Investments. The study will gather data from cities, towns, special districts, and counties, which are required to provide relevant information as requested. The findings of the study will be reported annually to the Select Water Committee from 2026 to 2030.
To facilitate this study, the bill appropriates $8 million from the Strategic Investments and Projects Account to the Office of State Lands and Investments, which can be used for necessary expenditures, including hiring a consultant. The funds are designated specifically for this study and cannot be used for other purposes, with any unspent funds reverting by June 30, 2030. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
