This bill mandates that school districts in Wyoming provide free feminine hygiene products in restrooms designated for female use, starting in the school year 2026-2027. The board of trustees for each school district is required to ensure an adequate supply of these products, which include tampons and sanitary napkins, is available in restrooms regularly used by students. Additionally, the board must inform students about the availability and location of these products.
To support this initiative, the bill appropriates $487,500 from the public school foundation program account to the Department of Education for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years. School districts will be reimbursed for the actual costs of providing these products and dispensers, with specific reimbursement limits set for each school year based on the number of female students in grades six through twelve. The appropriation is designated solely for this purpose and any unspent funds will revert by June 30, 2028. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
