This bill authorizes the state forestry division of the office of state lands and investments to create twelve employee positions, which include two full-time roles (a regional fire manager and a suppression module leader), two nine-month temporary positions, and eight six-month temporary positions. The legislature intends for these positions to be included in the standard budget for the following fiscal biennium.

Additionally, the bill appropriates $2,572,000 from the general fund for a wildland fire suppression module within the state forestry program. This funding will cover the authorized positions, support costs, equipment, and expenses related to hiring, training, certifying, and supervising a specialized team for wildfire suppression and hazardous fuels reduction projects. The appropriation is designated for use until June 30, 2028, and any unspent funds will revert as per the law. The bill specifies that $500,000 of this appropriation should not be included in the standard budget for the next fiscal biennium. The act is set to take effect on April 1, 2026.
