This bill amends the formula for calculating county vehicle registration fees in Wyoming, specifically for vehicles in their sixth, seventh, and eighth years of service. The current law stipulates that for vehicles in their sixth year, the registration fee is 3% of 15% of the factory price plus special equipment value, and this provision is deleted. The new language introduces two additional subparagraphs: for vehicles in their seventh year, the fee will be 3% of 10% of the factory price plus special equipment value, and for vehicles in their eighth year and thereafter, the fee will be 3% of 5% of the factory price plus special equipment value.
The bill aims to adjust the registration fees to reflect a decreasing percentage of the factory price as vehicles age, thereby potentially lowering the financial burden on vehicle owners as their vehicles reach older age categories. The effective date for these changes is set for July 1, 2026.
