This bill amends the duties of the state superintendent of public instruction in Wyoming by requiring the development of model policies and procedures for student discipline. Specifically, it adds a new duty for the state superintendent to establish these model policies to assist local school districts in adopting their own discipline policies, as outlined in W.S. 21-4-305 through 21-4-308. Importantly, the bill clarifies that no school district will be mandated to adopt any part of these model policies and procedures.

The state superintendent is required to complete the development of these model policies and procedures by July 1, 2026. The bill is set to take effect immediately upon the completion of all necessary legislative processes as stipulated by the Wyoming Constitution.
