This bill establishes a new section in Wyoming law, W.S. 1-3-120, which provides immunity from liability for individuals who return firearms to their owners following a firearm hold agreement. Under this legislation, no legal action can be taken against a person for returning a firearm at the end of such an agreement, unless the return is due to a breach of contract or unlawful conduct by the person holding the firearm. The bill also defines a "firearm hold agreement" as a written or oral arrangement where a firearm owner entrusts their firearm to another person for a specified period.
Additionally, the bill specifies that it does not apply to certain types of firearms, including machine guns and other weapons defined under the National Firearms Act. The provisions of this act will be applicable to all firearm hold agreements entered into on or after July 1, 2026, and the act itself will take effect on that same date.
