This bill amends the eligibility requirements for counties in Wyoming to request reimbursement for the preparation and transportation of indigent veterans for burial. Specifically, it allows the board of county commissioners to provide burial services for any veteran, excluding those dishonorably discharged, who dies without sufficient funds for funeral expenses. The bill sets a maximum reimbursement of $500 for transportation and $1,500 for burial expenses. Additionally, counties can request reimbursement from the Department of Family Services for these expenses incurred in the previous fiscal year.

The bill also modifies the criteria for determining eligibility by removing the requirement that the veteran must have served during specific wars or conflicts, such as World War II, the Korean War, or the Vietnam War. Instead, it simply requires that the deceased veteran served in the armed forces of the United States and was not dishonorably discharged. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
