The bill amends the penalties for the crime of accessory after the fact in Wyoming. It establishes that an accessory after the fact commits a felony, punishable by up to three years of imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $3,000, if the crime is a non-violent felony and the accessory is not a relative of the principal. Additionally, it specifies that if the crime is a violent felony, the same felony penalties apply. Conversely, if the accessory is a relative of the principal committing a non-violent felony, the crime is classified as a misdemeanor, with penalties of up to six months of imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $750.

The bill also clarifies that if the principal is a minor, the crime remains a felony if it is a non-violent felony. The effective date for this act is set for July 1, 2025.
