The bill amends Wyoming's civil liability laws to expand the exemption from civil liability for individuals providing emergency assistance to include those responding to mental health crises. Specifically, it adds language to the existing statute that protects licensed physicians, other individuals, and organizations operating volunteer ambulances or rescue vehicles from civil damages when they render emergency care or assistance, including during mental health crises. The bill clarifies that this immunity applies to acts or omissions made in good faith and does not cover gross negligence or willful misconduct.

Additionally, the bill defines "unpaid volunteers" and extends immunity to those providing mental health services during emergencies, including suicidal interventions. It also ensures that the immunity applies to medical directors, hospitals, and trainees involved in emergency medical or mental health services training. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
