The bill mandates that all hospitals, health care clinics, and long-term care facilities receiving state funds report incidents of workplace violence to the Department of Workforce Services on a monthly basis, starting August 1, 2025. The required reports must include detailed information such as the nature of the incidents, the categories of individuals involved, patient-related and environmental risk factors, and the job types of the victims. Additionally, the Department is tasked with compiling this data and presenting a summary of the total incidents reported between July 1, 2025, and July 1, 2026, to the joint labor, health, and social services interim committee by October 1, 2026.

To facilitate the implementation of this act, the Department of Workforce Services is required to create necessary rules, including a standardized reporting form for the facilities. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2025, with certain sections becoming effective immediately upon the completion of legislative processes. The bill aims to enhance workplace safety in health care settings by systematically tracking and addressing incidents of violence.
