The bill amends several sections of Wyoming election law to clarify the composition and responsibilities of the county canvassing board. Specifically, it specifies that the county canvassing board will consist of the county clerk and two electors who are residents of the county, with one elector selected by the county central committee of each of the two largest major political parties. If there are not two major political parties in the county, or if a county central committee fails to select an elector, the county clerk is authorized to appoint individuals to fill any unfilled positions, ensuring that the two electors represent different political parties. Additionally, the bill removes previous language that allowed for a canvassing board appointed by the county clerk consisting of two electors and the county clerk.

The bill also outlines that any special district election conducted by the county clerk will be canvassed by the county canvassing board, and it maintains the requirement for the canvass to be conducted within seven business days of the election. The members of the canvassing board are required to take an oath of office and will receive compensation equivalent to that of election judges. The effective date for this act is set for July 1, 2025.
