A BILL
for
1 AN ACT relating to education; removing a limitation on the
2 number of charter schools that the Wyoming charter school
3 authorizing board may authorize; making conforming
4 amendments; and providing for an effective date.

6 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

8 Section 1. W.S. 21-3-302.2 by creating a new
9 subsection (k) is amended to read:
10
11 21-3-302.2. Wyoming charter school authorizing board;
12 number of charter schools that may be authorized.

1 (k) Beginning on March 15, 2025 and notwithstanding
2 any other provision of law, the Wyoming charter school
3 authorizing board may authorize any number of charter
4 schools in accordance with the requirements of this
5 article.

7 Section 2. 2023 Wyoming Session Laws, Chapter 179,
8 Section 4(b) is amended to read:

10 Section 4.

12 (b) Notwithstanding any other provision of
13 the law, not more than three (3) four (4) charter
14 schools shall be authorized to operate by an
15 entity other than a school district board, prior
16 to July 1, 2026 March 15, 2025. The three (3)
17 charter schools authorized by the state loan and
18 investment board shall count towards the three
19 (3) four (4) schools authorized to operate under
20 this subsection. In the event a charter school
21 previously authorized by the state loan and
22 investment board closes for any reason, the

1 Wyoming charter school authorizing board may
2 approve a new charter school.

4 Section 3. 2023 Wyoming Session Laws, Chapter 179,
5 Section 4(c) is repealed.

7 Section 4. This act is effective immediately upon
8 completion of all acts necessary for a bill to become law
9 as provided by Article 4, Section 8 of the Wyoming
10 Constitution.
