This bill amends the existing law regarding career technical education equipment grants for K-12 public school districts in Wyoming. It increases the maximum grant award from fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) to seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) per year. Additionally, the bill reduces the time frame required for districts to expend funds to qualify for grant eligibility from five years to two years. The application process remains the same, requiring submission by June 30 for grants in the following school year, and districts will be notified of grant awards by August 15.
Furthermore, the bill stipulates that no grant will be awarded unless the district has expended or will expend the entire amount generated for career and technical education programs, utilizing data from the two preceding school years. Preference will be given to districts that have not received a grant in the previous five years. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
