The bill amends W.S. 17-28-108(c) to modify the conditions under which the Secretary of State can release confidential information maintained by registered agents. It specifies that while the Secretary of State shall keep records confidential, they may release such information upon written application to a county assessor or county treasurer for official business purposes. Additionally, any records obtained by these county officials must also be kept confidential, with the stipulation that they can only release this information under a court-ordered subpoena or to a bona fide law enforcement agency for criminal investigations.

The bill removes the previous provision that allowed the Secretary of State to release confidential information solely to law enforcement agencies and introduces the new provisions regarding county assessors and treasurers. The effective date for this act is set for July 1, 2025.
