The bill proposes an increase in various court automation fees across multiple sections of Wyoming law. Specifically, it raises the court automation fee from $40 to $50 for probate matters, and from $55 to $65 for filings in the supreme court. Additionally, the original filing fee for civil matters in district courts will increase from $160 to $170, with a corresponding increase in the court automation fee from $40 to $50. Other adjustments include raising the fees for transcripts in cases appealed to the supreme court and for docketing appeals from circuit courts, both increasing from $100 to $110, with the court automation fee also raised from $40 to $50 in these instances.
Furthermore, the bill mandates that a court automation fee of $50 be imposed in every criminal case where the defendant is found guilty or enters a plea of guilty or no contest. This fee is also applicable to misdemeanors and felonies, alongside an indigent civil legal services fee of $10. The act will apply to all cases and appeals filed on or after July 1, 2025, and will take effect on the same date.
