This bill amends Wyoming Statute 9-1-305 to allow the Secretary of State to charge a fee for expediting the filing of certain documents, specifically those filed under titles 17, 34, or 40, chapters 1 and 2 of the Wyoming statutes. The maximum fee for this expedited service is set at five thousand dollars ($5,000.00). The Secretary of State is tasked with establishing the fee and the process for requesting expedited filings, which will consider the costs associated with the filing and the required response deadlines. Importantly, expedited filings will not confer any advantages over non-expedited filings regarding the timing of submission.
Additionally, the bill authorizes the Secretary of State to create one full-time position to implement these changes, with an appropriation of ninety-three thousand one hundred seventy-nine dollars ($93,179.00) from the general fund for this purpose, effective until June 30, 2026. This appropriation is contingent upon the absence of additional positions authorized for the Secretary of State in other legislation. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
