This bill amends existing laws regarding child safety restraint systems in motor vehicles in Wyoming. It mandates that children under the age of two or those who have not reached the maximum weight or height limits specified by the manufacturer must be secured in a rear-facing child safety restraint system. Additionally, it clarifies that children under nine years of age must be properly secured in a child safety restraint system located in a seat other than the front seat, unless specific conditions are met, such as the vehicle having only one row of seats or all safety belts in the back being in use.
The bill also specifies that a rear-facing child safety restraint system cannot be placed in front of an active airbag, enhancing safety measures for young passengers. The effective date for this legislation is set for July 1, 2025.
