The bill amends the Wyoming national guard member referral incentive program to expand eligibility for those who can participate in the program. It introduces new definitions and clarifies the roles of various individuals eligible for referral bonuses. Specifically, the bill allows not only current Wyoming national guard members but also
retired military service members, current employees of the military department, and recruits beginning the enlistment process with the Wyoming national guard to make successful referrals. The military department is tasked with maintaining records of referrals and distributing bonuses upon the successful accession of referred individuals, with the stipulation that
referring recruits must have membership in the Wyoming national guard before receiving a referral bonus.
Additionally, the bill defines a "retired military service member" as someone who has retired from the armed forces, including the army national guard or air national guard. The term "successful referral" is also clarified to mean providing the identity and contact information of a non-member that leads to their successful accession into the Wyoming national guard. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
