Career technical education equipment grants amendments.

A BILL
for
1 AN ACT relating to career technical education equipment
2 grants for K-12 public school districts; increasing the
3 maximum grant award; reducing the years required to expend
4 funds for grant eligibility; and providing for an effective
5 date.

7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:
8
9 Section 1. W.S. 21-13-337(b)(intro) and (c) is
10 amended to read:
11
12 21-13-337. Career and technical education equipment
13 grants; application; criteria; limitations.
14
15 (b) A grant awarded under this section shall be for a
16 period of two (2) years and shall not exceed fifty thousand

1 dollars ($50,000.00) seventy-five thousand dollars
2 ($75,000.00) per year. Applications for a grant under this
3 section shall be submitted on a form and in a manner
4 specified by rule of the department, shall be filed with
5 the department on or before June 30 to secure a grant
6 during the immediately succeeding school year and shall at
7 a minimum include:

9 (c) Not later than August 15 of the applicable school
10 year and following review of applications submitted under
11 this section, the department shall notify applicant
12 districts of its grant awards and shall provide each
13 applicant district a written statement of the reasons for
14 approving or denying the application. No award shall be
15 given to a district unless it has expended, or will expend
16 with the award of the grant requested under this section,
17 the entire amount generated under W.S. 21-13-309(m)(v)(D)
18 for supplies, materials and equipment for career and
19 technical education programs utilizing expenditure data
20 from the immediately preceding five (5) two (2) school
21 years from the date of application and amounts from the
22 special reserve fund created under W.S. 21-13-504 for
23 supplies, materials and equipment for career and technical

1 education programs. Further, Preference shall be given to
2 districts that have not received a grant under this section
3 in the immediately preceding five (5) school years from the
4 date of application. If an application is approved, the
5 department shall award the grant from amounts made
6 available by legislative appropriation from the public
7 school foundation program account for purposes of this
8 section.

10 Section 2. This act is effective July 1, 2025.
