1 AN ACT relating to the Wyoming health care decisions act;
2 amending the definition of advance health care directive to
3 include dementia directives; and providing for an effective
4 date.

6 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

8 Section 1. W.S. 35-22-402(a)(i) is amended to read:

10 35-22-402. Definitions.

12 (a) As used in this act:
13
14 (i) "Advance health care directive" means an
15 individual instruction or a power of attorney for health

1 care, or both.; The term includes, but is not limited to,
2 directives for dementia as follows:
3
4 (A) Dementia directives that provide
5 individual instruction for health care decisions to address
6 the gradual cognitive decline of a person who has been
7 diagnosed with dementia. Dementia directives may include
8 directions for health care decisions during each stage of
9 dementia regarding the care to be rendered at each stage of
10 the disease. Dementia directives may be used to augment a
11 person's other advance health care directives in accordance
12 with this article.

14 Section 2. This act is effective July 1, 2025.
