The bill establishes a court automation filing fee of twelve dollars ($12.00) for individuals filing in criminal, civil, probate, and chancery court cases, applicable starting from the seventh filing in each respective case. This fee is in addition to existing fees and is intended to support the judicial systems automation account. The bill amends various sections of Wyoming law to incorporate this new fee structure, including provisions for the collection and distribution of these fees, which will be deposited into the judicial systems automation account established by W.S. 5-2-120.
Additionally, the bill authorizes the Wyoming Supreme Court and the judicial conference of district judges to create any necessary rules for implementing the new fee structure. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2024, and will apply to all actions, matters, and cases commenced on or after that date.
