The bill amends the existing laws regarding prostitution and solicitation of prostitution in Wyoming by expanding the definitions to include "sexual contact." Specifically, it modifies W.S. 6-4-101 and 6-4-102 to state that a person who knowingly or intentionally performs, permits, or offers to perform acts of sexual contact or sexual intrusion for money or other property commits prostitution. This offense remains classified as a misdemeanor, punishable by up to six months of imprisonment, a fine of up to $750, or both.
Additionally, the bill updates the solicitation statute to reflect the inclusion of sexual contact in the definition of acts of prostitution. It specifies that a person is guilty of soliciting prostitution if they intend for an act of sexual contact or sexual intrusion to occur and knowingly pay or offer to pay for such acts. The penalties for soliciting prostitution remain the same as those for prostitution itself. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2024.
