Attorney general opinions.

A BILL
for
1 AN ACT relating to administration of government; modifying
2 duties of the attorney general relating to legislative
3 requests for opinions; providing that the attorney general
4 may decline to provide opinions as specified; and providing
5 for an effective date.

7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

9 Section 1. W.S. 9-1-603(a)(vi) is amended to read:
10
11 9-1-603. Duties generally; retention of qualified
12 practicing attorneys; matters in which county or state is
13 party or has interest; written opinions; assistance to
14 county and district attorneys in felony trials.

16 (a) The attorney general shall:

2 (vi) When requested, give written opinions upon
3 questions submitted to him by elective and appointive state
4 officers and by either branch any member of the
5 legislature., when in session The attorney general, upon
6 written notice, may decline to give an opinion if providing
7 the opinion would be contrary to the Wyoming Rules of
8 Professional Conduct for Attorneys at Law;

10 Section 2. This act is effective July 1, 2024.
