A BILL
for
1 AN ACT relating to special districts; clarifying the term
2 of office for members of a special district governing body
3 that filled a vacancy; and providing for an effective date.

5 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

7 Section 1. W.S. 22-29-103(b) and 22-29-202(c) are
8 amended to read:
9
10 22-29-103. Applicability to special districts;
11 general provisions.

1 (b) This act specifies requirements pertaining to
2 elections and changes in the organization of the districts
3 listed in subsection (a) of this section where the
4 principal act is silent or unclear. Except as provided by
5 W.S. 22-29-401(b) and 22-29-202(c), the specific provisions
6 of a principal act are effective and controlling to the
7 extent they conflict with this act.

9 22-29-202. Filling by appointment.
10
11 (c) An appointee to the office of director shall
12 serve until the next regular election expiration of the
13 term of office that the appointee was appointed to fill.
14 The term of office of an appointee shall not be extended in
15 any manner beyond the term of office that the appointee was
16 appointed to fill.

18 Section 2. This act is effective July 1, 2024.
