Public defender funding amendments.

A BILL
for
1 AN ACT relating to the public defender; removing a
2 requirement for federal funding to be included in
3 calculating the state public defender budget for purposes
4 of determining state and county shares; and providing for
5 an effective date.

7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

9 Section 1. W.S. 7-6-113(a) and by creating a new
10 subsection (e) is amended to read:
11
12 7-6-113. Funding.

1 (a) The total state and federal funding of the public
2 defender program shall be eighty-five percent (85%) of the
3 state public defender budget.
4
5 (e) For purposes of this section, calculation of the
6 state public defender budget shall not include any
7 authorized federal funds to be expended by the state public
8 defender.

10 Section 2. This act is effective immediately upon
11 completion of all acts necessary for a bill to become law
12 as provided by Article 4, Section 8 of the Wyoming
13 Constitution.
