The bill amends the calculation of unemployment benefits in Wyoming by revising the maximum payment structure for eligible individuals. It establishes that the maximum benefits payable will be the lesser of either thirty percent of the individual's wages from insured work during their base period or a specified number of weeks based on the state's average unemployment rate. Specifically, it outlines that for claims submitted during a calendar year, the duration of benefits will vary: twelve weeks if the unemployment rate is five percent or less, with additional weeks added for rates above that threshold, up to a maximum of twenty-three weeks if the rate reaches ten and one-half percent or more.

Additionally, the bill clarifies that the calculated benefit amount will be rounded to the next higher multiple of the individual's weekly benefit. It defines "state's average unemployment rate" as the most recent average of seasonally adjusted statewide unemployment rates published for the third quarter of the year. The provisions of this act will apply only to unemployment claims filed on or after July 1, 2023, with the act itself becoming effective on that same date.
