The bill amends existing laws related to criminal trespass and the responsibilities of the Game and Fish Commission and the Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources in Wyoming. It specifies that property can be designated to prevent trespass by marking with fluorescent orange or fluorescent pink paint. This marking must cover at least fifty square inches at each outer gate and normal access points, as well as at regular intervals along property bordering public roads. Additionally, it prohibits the use of such markings at points where public roadways enter private property.
Furthermore, the bill mandates that both the Game and Fish Commission and the Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources educate permit holders about trespassing laws, specifically referencing W.S. 6-3-303. They are required to include this information in their publications and use public media to inform recreational users. The commission and department may also develop signs for landowners to post at public roadways entering private land, clarifying the rights-of-way and trespassing regulations. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2023.
