The bill amends existing laws regarding the use of slow moving vehicle emblems and introduces speed identification symbols for specific farm tractors, equipment, and implements. It specifies that no person shall use the slow moving vehicle emblem except as required, and it removes the previous restriction on displaying the emblem on vehicles traveling over twenty-five miles per hour. The bill mandates that every farm tractor and self-propelled unit of farm equipment manufactured after July 1, 2023, designed for speeds exceeding twenty-five miles per hour, must display both a slow moving vehicle emblem and a speed identification symbol on the rear.
Additionally, the bill outlines requirements for combinations of farm tractors and towed equipment, stating that they must also be equipped with the same emblems and symbols. It details that towed units must have the emblem and symbol as determined by the manufacturer, and if the emblem on the towing unit is not obscured, both units must display them. The combination of towing and towed units is restricted from traveling faster than the lowest speed indicated by any displayed speed identification symbol. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2023.
