A BILL
for
1 AN ACT relating to elections; imposing restrictions on
2 public employment and holding elected public office as
3 specified; amending restrictions on holding multiple
4 elected public offices as specified; and providing for an
5 effective date.

7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

9 Section 1. W.S. 22-2-116 is amended to read:
10
11 22-2-116. Restrictions on holding more than one
12 elected public office; restrictions on holding public
13 employment and elected public office.

1 (a) No person may shall hold an elective public
2 office in any governmental entity which either provides any
3 funding for or receives any funding from another any
4 governmental entity in which that person is employed or
5 holds elected public office. If a person also is elected to
6 a public office while holding another public office or
7 hired by a governmental entity such that this section is
8 applicable, the person shall resign from the employment or
9 public office first held prior to assuming the new office
10 or employment.

12 (b) As used in this section:
13
14 (i) "Governmental entity" means any unit of
15 state government or local government or any branch,
16 subdivision or agency thereof or any school district,
17 special district or other political subdivision of the
18 state;
19
20 (ii) "Local government" means any county, city
21 or town.

1 Section 2. This act is effective January 1, 2024.
